Drink driving is not the only way alcohol and vehicles can get you prosecuted. There is also a criminal offence of being ‘drunk in charge’.

According to the law it is an offence for a person to be in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place with excess alcohol in their breath, blood or urine, but what is classed as being in charge of a vehicle?

In cases of drunk in charge, each case is dependent on the facts relating to that specific case, but as a general guide a motorist is deemed to be in charge if they are the owner of the vehicle, are in possession of the vehicle or have driven the vehicle recently. You are not seen to be in charge of the vehicle if you are a considerable distance from the vehicle or if whoever is driving holds a full licence.

For example if someone was attempting to remove a parking clamp then this wouldn’t count as drunk in charge as there is clearly no intention or way they could drive. An example of when someone would be seen to be drunk in charge would be if a mother was supervising her son who was driving on a provisional license, when she was over the drinking limit, as she may need to take the wheel if he became unable to drive.

The penalties for conviction of drunk in charge are a maximum fine of 2500, a maximum 3 month prison sentence and a maximum of 10 penalty points, and as a defendant you must prove that you were unlikely to drive rather than the prosecutor proving you were likely to drive.

A wide range of evidence can prove this, including medical evidence to show how soon the defendant would come back within the legal limit, a hotel booking or a receipt for overnight parking.

Looking for more information on motoring offences, then visit www.oliverandco.co.uk to find the best advice for you.

Ever since the benefits of resveratrol came to the public’s attention there has been enormous interest in the product and of course a corresponding increase in the numbers of resveratrol products made available which has caused some confusion as the products vary substantially in their strengths and effectiveness.

Resveratrol is a compound made by some plants that helps them fight off infection. It is found in some plants such as in grapes (especially the skin) plus blueberries and other fruits. Its presence in red wine is perhaps some explanation for the phenomenon whereby some Mediterranean people seem to be able to eat rich fat laden foods yet have a low incidence of the usual health problems that go with such dietary habits.

Resveratrol has been tested on animals and some remarkable results were seen. Mice given a diet much higher in calories than normal but also given resveratrol were no more likely to die than those given a standard diet and other tests showed mice with resveratrol in their diets seemed more energetic and had greater endurance than mice on the normal diet. Not only that but it seems resveratrol might help animals to fight certain cancers too.

Needless to say the age extending, anti-cancer and anti weight gain properties of resveratrol are the reasons for its popularity but as mentioned above there is a a huge variance in the quality of the various products available.

Because resveratrol has a delicate structure and breaks down quickly, it has to be packaged and even consumed in the right way to get the maximum benefit. Some tests found the best results came from swishing liquid resveratrol around the mouth for long enough for it to be absorbed through the mouth and throat but as this is not very practical to market some techniques have been developed to ensure pills and capsules are not broken down too early and deliver a good dose to you at the right stage in digestion.

It is most likely that the resveratrol you get will come from Japanese knotweed raher than grapes as it is the most economic way to harvest resveratrol. Now don’t let that put you off, what matters is the dose that reaches your bloodstream. Whether it comes from knotweed or other sources the important thing is to get a product that has been manufactured by a responsible supplier and which is designed not to be broken down too soon by digestion.

Do not let your dream of operating a business pass you by even if you have very little capital to start your own business. You can apply for small business loans to help you launch your new business. If you are already running a business and need money for business expenses, you can also apply for small business loans.

You should have your new business well planned out before applying for a loan. A potential lender will want to see that you have done your research before opting to start your business. You should have a business plan as well as a marketing plan to show a potential lender. Business and marketing plans will reflect your business mission and goals. These plans will show that you have researched your target market and have estimated projected revenue and expenses for the next few years.

A well thought out business plan and marketing plan can go a long way in helping you to obtain a small business loan. You are not likely to be approved for a loan if you have not done any research or given any real thought to how you can make your business be successful. A potential lender needs to believe that your business has the opportunity to succeed and to earn good revenue so that you will be able to repay your loan.

When applying for a loan for a business that is already in operation, you will still want to show your business and marketing plan. The lender will be able to see how well your business is performing in comparison with your plan. You will need to show a lender how a business loan will help your business to be even more successful. Once again, they will need to have confidence that your business will grow and succeed.

It takes hard work and confidence to be approved for a small business loan. You need to sell your business and most often yourself to any potential lenders.

The rise of discount codes has brought about something of a revolution in the world of online shopping. But does the reality match the promises when it comes to saving you money?

If you’ve never previously used a discount code (you’ll sometimes also see them referred to as “discount vouchers”) then you may wonder what all the fuss is about.

Basically, these discounts are issued by retailers. They allow you to make an additional saving when shopping with that particular online store. So you might, for instance, be able to avoid paying Postage and Packing. Alternatively, a discount may enable you to pay less at the checkout when you spend a certain amount.

This seems like good news for consumers and such vouchers are being issued by retailers as a way of attracting more business. So are there any potential problems?

There certainly are a few issues that can be annoying. Some consumers have noted that discount codes aren’t always as easy to track down as they could be. Some websites suggest that they list discounts for a particular retailer, but then fail to list accurate, authentic, valid discounts.

This can be a real problem. It can lead to you spending quite a bit of time trying to track down vouchers. This can certainly be frustrating.

Another problem may be that some vouchers can only be used in certain circumstances. If the terms and conditions aren’t made clear then this can lead to even more frustration.

The key to success is to rely on websites that list accurate information about discount vouchers. That way, you’ll be able to save time, money and frustration.

It’s definitely always worth seeing if a retailer offers a discount before you come to make a purchase. Otherwise, you may be paying more money than you really need to.

A quality locksmith in London is similar to other services, such as painters and mechanics, and they can be quite difficult to find. A reliable locksmith must be capable of offering numerous services, such as changing keys on locks and fitting them properly, setting up security locks at business properties, and safely removing broken keys from doors.

Here is a list of tips to use that will help you find a London locksmith to use for your own needs, as well as suggest to your friends and family when they’re in need of locksmith services.

1. It is ideal to use a locksmith that can carry out a multitude of services. This will allow you to refer to the same person all the time that you will trust and have a good relationship with, as well as save you from spending time trying to find another locksmith once more from the beginning.

2. Write a checklist of all of your locksmith needs. In case you have just purchased a brand new property, or moved to a different area, check with a friend or neighbor to find out which locksmith services you may need now or later on.

3. Pick a locksmith that can provide a cost-free estimation for virtually any non-emergency job.

4. Get a locksmith that offers 24 hour a day emergency services. An outstanding locksmith in London will need to have the ability to reach you within a half-hour in the event of an emergency.

5. Choose a locksmith in London that handles emergency automobile calls, in case you are locked out or your key breaks in the ignition.

6. If you own a business, you need to think about making use of locksmith services to increase building security.

7. See whether or not the locksmith in London that you’re thinking about carries the right qualifications or is a member with associations, such as the Master Locksmiths Association.

These are some useful tips to keep in mind when searching for a quality locksmith in London area to make sure you have a good experience without any regrets.

Well is that time again and it looks like BT are ready to drop the long running BT Diverse 6000 series of cordless phones for the 7000 series. We have seen a quick glimpse of one of the new BT Diverse 7000 series handsets and it does look similar to the current BT Hub handsets.

At the moment we haven’t got the full specifications or pricing yet but what we do know is the names of the phones. Going of past experience when these BT Diverse phones have changed in the past the new models are very similar to the old ones. They just tend to be a change of shape and a few tweaks with the specification.

However once these phones are released if we have got some of this slightly wrong don’t hold it against us!! So here is how we think the different BT phones will be:

BT Diverse 7110 Cordless Phone

This model looks to be the starting model in this range and replacement for the current 6110 model phone. However there doesn’t seem to be a BT Diverse 7210 being released this year so we think the spec on this will be better.

The BT Diverse 7150 Cordless Phone is the Replacement for the BT Diverse 6150 and probably the same as the above spec wise, though the Diverse 7150 including and answering machine.

BT Diverse 7410 Cordless Phone

We think that all the BT Diverse handsets with the 74 at the beginning of the name will be the top of the range models. Similar to how the BT Diverse 6410 was the top spec we expect the 7410 to be as well.

BT Diverse 7450 Cordless Phone

Just as the BT Diverse 6450 was, we expect the BT Diverse 7450 to be the same as the above but with an answering machine.

The BT Diverse 7460 Cordless Phone The 7460 is one that is a bit of a mystery at the moment as there never was a BT Diverse 6460 model. However there was the corded and cordless 6350 so we have a sneaky feeling the Diverse 7460 will be in this mould.

All of these phones will probably have the ability to add extra handsets and it will be from the following models.

Have you ever applied for a job believing that you’re perfect for the advertised role? We’ve probably all submitted our CV and then felt pretty confident once we were selected for interview.

It’s possible, however, to be over-confident. We may be so sure that we’re perfect for the job that we take a rather laid back approach to the interview process. This can be fatal to our chances of finding employment.

It doesn’t matter how well qualified we are: if we don’t make the appropriate efforts at the interview stage then we’re unlikely to get the job.

Some people suggest that you should “just be yourself” when you go along to an interview. Although this may be true to some extent, it can also cause problems.

If being yourself involves making it clear that you’re a professional and dedicated person then you won’t have too many problems. If, on the other hand, your approach involves wearing an old pair of jeans and a scruffy T-shirt then things are unlikely to go well.

Although some do say that what you wear no longer matters, this is a long way from the truth. Many potential employers may dismiss you pretty quickly if you don’t look the part.

Making an effort in terms of your appearance is really important because it tells a potential employer that you care about this job. If you don’t even make the effort at the interview stage then what does that say about the chances of you working hard if you do get the job?

Think carefully about what you’re planning to wear to an interview. You will want to look professional and make it clear that you’re somebody who is prepared to work hard to get the job.

If you take the alternative approach and appear to be too relaxed then you may as well kiss goodbye to your chances.

Like many products, an Apple Mac computer can be bought for a heavily reduced price second hand. While I would not dream of buying a PC or windows laptops second hand, I would not hesitate to purchase a used Mac.

Why? Well firstly I trust the build quality of Apple products – they are built to last. Mac and MacBook computers usually outlast their usefulness and are still going when it’s time to upgrade to a newer model. Compare this to your average PC. Many are so full of dust and buzzing components that they are just ready for the bin within a few years of purchase.

Another consideration is the reliability of the Apple operating system and other software. A second hand PC will probably need a comprehensive clean up as it will have accumulated no end of spyware and junk over its lifetime. The Mac doesn’t generally suffer from this problem and it will be highly unlikely you’ll need to do a full format and reinstall of the operating system when you buy. Simply delete the stuff you don’t want, defrag the disk and away you go.

The final major reason I’d buy a second hand Mac is the price. Apple Mac computers are very expensive. You do get what you pay for, but sometimes they are just too pricey to justify buying brand new. Rather like a brand new car that is driven off the forecourt, a nearly new Mac will instantly lose enough value to make it affordable. However after this initial loss it will keep its value nicely for a few years. You may even be able to sell it on third hand!

If you’d like to send someone flowers but aren’t sure where to start then we’ve got a great shop to recommend to you. They have been tested several times and each time brilliant flowers have arrived on time and on budget! The flowers are excellent quality with one recipient being impressed that her freesias lasted nearly 4 weeks, after she’d carefully followed the care instructions provided.

Picking the right flowers or bouquet is easy with a few helpful hints. Red roses are for romance, so unless you’re sending flowers to someone you love, steer clear of these. With a fantastic choice of bouquets including Freesias which are wonderfully fragrant, or Carnations which are stunningly pretty in a range of colours from white to red. Tulips are also available now and yes, they are from Amsterdam.

Bunches is good if you’re on a tight budget as they have flowers under £10 as well as a large range of flowers under £20. Delivery is free too so you don’t have to worry about extra costs for that either. Delivery is made by first class post which means delivery can be Monday to Saturday.

As well as bouquets you can also look at more formal flower arrangements or even potted plants. This gives you plenty of choice of flowers. Seasonal bouquets are available too which feature wonderful flowers that are suited to the season. This includes some amazing Spring Daffodils that are just so cheerful and ideal for sending as a treat to a friend who needs cheering up. Larger, more expensive arrangements are available too so when you want to really push the boat out you can!
